The “second son of 51”, Matt Butkus, is actively involved in all charitable and cause marketing activities involving Dick Butkus, specifically playing an active role with The Butkus Foundation and Butkus Award. He conceived the I Play Clean™ campaign and was instrumental in expanding the Butkus Award® to three levels of play when the award was returned to the Butkus family in 2008. Butkus played football for USC, including the 1990 Rose Bowl win over Michigan. A sports enthusiast, he forges personal and lasting relationships with virtually all of the NFL, NCAA and prep athletes connected to Butkus activities.
Matt Amendola is from The Woodlands, Texas, and currently resides in Dallas, Texas. He is a prominent sports marketing professional who is excited to share some of his insights on the “Butkus Beyond the Line” podcast.
Amendola graduated from the Woodlands H.S where he played strong safety and linebacker. He was recognized with all-state honors at linebacker and was a finalist for the Houston Touchdown Club as a safety. He continued his football career at Baylor University, playing free safety and special teams, and graduated in 2002. Amendola also continued his passion for football off the field by providing radio commentary for high school games.
Matt is the older brother of 13-year NFL veteran wide receiver Danny Amendola.
